Hourly Schedule:
*may change upon school's required schedule or suggestions (Green, 2013)
7:45-8:10
- The students will preform their morning procedure. Morning Procedure for the students is found on the Procedures page.
- While students are filling out their Brain Coffee sheets, the teacher will take attendance by looking to see whose student folders are left in their mailbox and making sure those students are nowhere else in the building.
- When students are done with their morning procedure, the teacher will go over the days schedule with the students and explain is student friendly terms the objectives of the day.
8:10-8:30
- This time will be used as silent reading - any reading program at the school for student achievement will be monitored at this time. (SSR, AR, etc.)
- Students may go to the library at this time if they need to pick out new independent books as given permission by the teacher (maximum of three at a time) and must move their clothes pin to the LIBRARY page of the Where Am I? board.
8:30-9:00
- Spelling practice and reading aloud time.
- The teacher will read a novel or story to the students depending on grade level.
9:00-9:30
- Specials classes. (Time may switch according to the organization or planning of the school)
9:30-10:15
- Language Arts.
- Writing workshop.
- Writing mini-lesson.
10:15-10:30
- Recess.
10:30-11:15
- Math Lesson.
11:15-12:00
- Centers.
- There are four main centers.
2. Reading
3. Small Group with Teacher instruction
4. Game Center/Computers (can be related to math, reading, social studies, or science)
12:00-12:35
- Lunch.
12:35-1:15
- Social Studies lesson.
1:15-2:00
- Science lesson.
2:00-2:40
- Character/Team Work Building. (or school's student achievement/community-building program)
2:40-3:00
- Students perform the end of the day procedure. End of the day student procedure can be found on the Procedure page.
- When students leave the classroom the teacher does the following:
2. Places new Brain Coffee and Homework for Today slips into the folders for the next day.
3. Grades any materials if time, if not takes material home to grade and returns graded work to student mailboxes the next day.
4. Moves all clothespin names off of selected lunch and back onto the starting point.
5. Moves any clothespins from the Where Am I? board and places them back onto the CLASSROOM page.
- Any adjustments to the classroom are made before the teacher leaves.
Daily Duties:
Wednesdays:
- I will place an appreciation card in one student's folder.
- Explanation of this can be found HERE.
Thursdays:
- Warm and fuzzy jar is checked by the teacher.
- If the warm and fuzzy jar is full the students can choose their reward. (due to the choice of free time on Friday, the choice needs to be made on Thursdays)
Friday:
- Weekly e-mail updates will be sent to parents.
- Newsletters to parents called "From the Desk of Miss Gascho" are sent out for the following week with the students. (Fourth Friday of every month)
- I CAN Meetings will be held every Friday for the students to gain self-confidence and display their accomplishments from the week. A further explanation of this activity can be found HERE.
